Are you ready to book your Tribal adventure? Before you do, take a look at our frequently asked questions (FAQs) below, which address many common queries that travelers have prior to booking. It’s natural to have several questions before and after booking your trip, and that’s why we’ve compiled a list of FAQs for each tour. Your tribal trip

Definitely! Our tours are designed with solo travellers in mind and trust us...having the opportunity to share novel experiences with a new group of friends is one of the most rewarding things you can do. In fact, most of the individuals who journey with us are first-time solo travellers, so don't fret, you'll always have company.

Yes. It's crucial to obtain travel insurance coverage for your journey with us. Fortunately, it's not costly and provides peace of mind for you and your loved ones. In fact, it's compulsory for all clients to demonstrate proof of insurance at the start of the excursion. We'll require your name, coverage region, and the policy's validity period.

Ferreting out the best hotels in any given destination is a bit of a passion of ours. We pride ourselves on offering unique accommodation in the finest locations. That means bungalows that are literally steps off the beach or eco homestays with sweeping views of volcanoes and whatnot. It’s pretty cool stuff.

In Asia, we stay in various lodgings such as hotels, guesthouses, homestays, and exceptional venues. Upgrades to private rooms are available for an additional fee.

For solo travellers, we pair you with fellow travellers of the same gender - women with women and men with men. If you're travelling with a friend, kindly inform us, and we'll accommodate your request to room together. Similarly, for couples, we'll arrange for a double room whenever feasible. We also offer optional upgrades to private rooms at an extra price.

The average age of participants on our tour is between 20 and 30 years. However, we welcome travellers of all ages who are young at heart and looking to explore new places, cultures, and experiences. Our tours offer a fun and inclusive environment where people from all walks of life can come together to create unforgettable memories. So, whether you're in your early 20s or late 30s, we invite you to join us and discover the world in a unique and exciting way.

Nope. Sorry, but flights aren’t included in the cost of your Tribal Trip. It’s just easier that way because our guests come from far and wide; some from Oz, some from the US, some from Europe. We recommend booking flights at least 90 days before you travel, because that’s when the best deals are on offer. Skyscanner and Momondo are great ways to compare departures and airlines.

Everything we list on the itinerary outline is included in the cost of your trip. That means accommodation, a range of meals, and all your activities. You’re also paying for the expertise of a dedicated tour leader and the services of a whole host of local guides.

THE BOOKING PROCESS

Easy.

Follow these steps:

1) Browse through our list of available trips and select the one that stokes your wanderlust.

2) Choose a preferred date and secure your spot by paying a deposit.

We highly advise you to reserve your place before booking your flight to ensure availability. Sadly, if a trip is already full, we won’t be able to accommodate any more bookings.

Option 1: Secure your spot by leaving a £100 deposit, and pay the remaining amount no later than 60 days before the trip (We will send you reminders as the deadline approaches, so you don't have to worry).

Option 2: Pay the full balance at the time of booking. This option requires no further payments, and you can relax knowing that everything is taken care of. Let's get the countdown started!

Tribal Trips is open to anyone. Just remember that our trips are crafted with young (or the young-at-heart) adventurers in mind. Most of our guests are in the 20-40 age range and really up for things like early-morning volcano treks and Full Moon Parties that go on all night long.

We know those confirmation emails make things internet-official. It’s just that sometimes it can take us 2-4 days to process a booking. Hold tight. It’s coming. We promise! (And if there’s no availability on the trip you’ve chosen, then have no fear - we offer full refunds right away.)

For most of our trips, there is an option available to pay an additional fee that guarantees you a single room for yourself. To request a single room, you can either specify it while booking the trip through phone or live chat, or drop us a line to update an existing booking.

While we make every effort to avoid cancelling trips, there may be circumstances beyond our control. We continually monitor all of our destinations, and, in the event of a force majeure event or other operational reason for cancellation, will aim to give you at least one month's notice before your scheduled departure date. Our trips also require at least one fully paid customer before they can depart, and will only be cancelled if the minimum group size listed in the trip Information and/or Special Conditions is not met.

We understand that sometimes plans change, and we're here to help. You can modify your travel plans up to 60 days before departure without any fees. If you need to change your trip dates within 60 days of departure, cancellation fees will apply in accordance with our Booking Conditions.

During Your Trip

The check-in times for hotels can vary depending on the location and establishment. Typically, check-in occurs between midday and 2pm. However, if you arrive earlier than the designated check-in time, most hotels will offer a luggage storage option, allowing you to securely drop your belongings and embark on a couple of hours of exploring. We really recommend getting to that first hotel nice and early. It’s the day that the group meets and gets together for the first time. Rocking up at 11pm when everyone’s five beers deep isn’t ideal.

We actually chop and change the hotels we stay at quite regularly to follow where’s hot and drop where’s not. You’ll get a Tribal Trip document sent over 3-7 days prior to departure to outline the details.

Of course! We don’t force anyone to do anything. You have the freedom to opt-out of any included or optional activities that don't appeal to you and pursue your own interests instead. Just keep in mind that, if you decide to skip a pre-arranged activity, Tribal Trips cannot offer any reimbursement of the cost.

From flight delays to traffic jams, there are oodles of reasons you might not make it on time. It happens. Don’t worry. Just inform our team as soon as you know you’ll be late. They’ll communicate with your group leader, who can leave instructions at the hotel reception on how to locate the group upon your arrival.

 

If you anticipate a longer delay of over a full day then it will be your responsibility to catch up with the rest of the group. We will provide you with the latest information on the group's whereabouts and approximate arrival times. Thankfully, getting to where you need to be usually isn’t that hard, as there are plenty of transport options in Thailand and Bali.

Almost all our accommodations offer either a private or shared bathroom for you and your fellow travellers. However, there are certain tour packages that involve overnight stays in tents or homestays, during treks or backcountry visits. While these situations may mean sacrificing some of our typical creature comforts, they promise an unparalleled and authentic travel experience.

During the trip, opportunities to do laundry typically arise, either through hotel services or local laundromats. Your group leader will provide guidance on the availability of laundry services once the trip is underway. It’s never too expensive in Southeast Asia - $1 per kilogram is usually the going rate.

Communication resources are constantly evolving worldwide. Access to Wi-Fi is increasingly common in hotels and public areas, allowing individuals to keep in touch with loved ones every few days, if desired. Phone cards are readily accessible, but it is important to ensure that your phone is unlocked prior to traveling. Alternatively, in numerous countries, internet cafes offer the most affordable means of making phone calls.
